This unique workshop will focus on management options for the headwaters of the North and South Saskatchewan watersheds. We will examine management challenges and solutions, while maximizing interactions and application of ideas. An important element of the workshop will be the development of a Legacy Committee to follow up on key ideas and actions arising from the workshop.

Dr. Henry Vaux of the Rosenberg International Forum on Water Policy will be the evening keynote speaker on Wednesday November 5. Dr. Vaux is an internationally recognized expert, and his presentation, "Source Water Protection Successes and Failures around the World," will launch the workshop with an opportunity to meet colleagues and friends over a fine meal at the Cochrane Ranche House, Cochrane, Alberta.

On Thursday November 6, the workshop program will focus on the following:

A. Understanding...

  • the headwaters of the Eastern Slopes
  • human impacts on the headwaters
  • climate and the headwaters

B. Exploring management options, with a distinguished panel featuring

Hon. Ted Morton, Dr. Henry Vaux, Brian Pincott, and Dr. Lorne Taylor

This workshop will be a vital resource as you face decisions and challenges related to our headwaters. We would be very pleased to have you participate.
